Sedona Golf Resort 6 "15

CC, Dolores, and Richard on the 18th hole of the Sedona Golf Resort

On the top of Bruce's personal activity wish list for Sedona was playing a round of golf at one of the many scenic courses.   Two weeks before we even arrived  in Sedona, Bruce had booked an 8:30 am Tee off at the Sedona Golf Resort for four player. (BJ, CC, and our Cousins Dolores Campbell Olson and Richard Olson)

As soon as we hit the first  fairway we could sense the difference between this course and the ones we were all used to paying in the South.  It was pretty much a good news bad news  situation.

The bad news was that the air was much much hotter and dryer. ( By 10:30  am the air temperature was 105 F on the course). The good news is that our balls drove a lot further in that climate, which was quite helpful on some of those extra long par five fairways. Both Bruce and I made par on at least one of the courses green.

The good news was that the courses grass was far greener than our own in Summer.

The bad news is that to keep it that way the greens were soggy ( Sedona has no shortage of water), and no matter how far you drove the ball it would inevitably 'stick" where it landed.

Roadrunner
The good news was that there was lots of wildlife to be seen on and around the  course. We saw a Roadrunner, Gambel's Quail,  a  Perrigine Falcon, a Coyote,

  lots of Chihuahuan Greater Earless Lizard, and of course the ubiquitous Cotton Tail rabbits

The bad news is that the rabbits are the Sedona equivalent of the Caddy Shack Gopher.  If the soggy grass didn't stop your ball, a rabbit hole would.

The bad news is that it was the hottest course we have ever played,];

 and there was little to no shade on the course.

The good news is  that it was that there were no trees to block the view, and it was  drop dead gorgeous in any direction we looked.

Even better was the view from the Clubhouse Grill where we all went for lunch ans a drink  In spite of the heat we had fun today.

And the best news was that we had some one on one time to bond with our cousins Dolores and Richard, and there is no bad side to that.
