BJ and I just realized this year that we
are living on the Eastern butterfly migration route. From September through October there was wave
after wave of butterflies floating through on their way south. We counted at least nine different
species. Sometimes there were so many in
the air that it looked like falling leaves… except that the leaves hadn’t
changed colors yet. It was especially
noticeable near the ocean where there were not trees to force them into higher
elevations. Walking along the beach was
like being on a freeway of colored wings.
