Inferno: 10 '16

We went to see 'Inferno' this afternoon. It is a well done film, What scared me more than the idea of a world-wide pandemic was that the bad guys were basing their actions on a problem that is very real, and is still looming over our heads. I remember reading about overpopulation when I was in high school, but today no one seems to talking about it, or even discussing how we will keep it from turning into the great extinction event the film predicts.

BEST MOVIE We've see this year! 8 '16

We went to see the movie "Florence Foster Jenkins" this afternoon. I think it was the best movie we've seen this year. As always, Meryl Streep gives an outstanding performance in her portrayal of a wealthy tone deaf music lover who became a cult figure in the 19302 and 1940s for her earnest, wildly off-key singing. We laughed we cried, we loved the characters, and everything about this movie. In my book, her performance deserves an Academy Award.

Staying young together, Star Trek movie 7 "16

Star Trek Beyond is not the best of the Star Trek movies produced and it is not  the worst.. The special effects  and aliens were not as creative  as they have been in some of the series  other movies, but the action scenes were exciting enough to keep me involved.  Having met most of the cast  in two previous films , I found  myself more familiar with  their characters and more  emotionally invested in this cast's survival.  than I had been in their previous  two film.  Perhaps it is just that the female cast member's were finally given  their fair share of kick-ass roles, but  the characters seemed more believable in this movie , and there was more interpersonal  humor in their interactions. While it might not be your favorite  Star Trek movie, it definitely deserves the loyalty of  all Trekies.

Secret Lives of Pets 7 '16

We saw "The Secret Lives of Pets" yesterday. It is a cute summer flick with such an endless variety of zany animal characters, I found it hard to decide who the stars were. If I had to pick it would come down to a toss between:

Gidget, ( Jenny Slate) the love-sick Pomeranian, with black ops training,

and

Snowball (Kevin Hart), a cute and very psychotic bunny who detests any “scent of domestication” and heads up an underground movement to take down mankind.

Jungle Book Movie: 5 '16

This movie is visually stunning and captivated us throughout the entire film. The creators put so much time and dedication into the details and it pays definitely payed off.The cinematography was amazing. That being said, the tone of this adaptation is far more serious one than the animated film put forth, and it's realistic depictions in the darker scenes would probably scare younger children. I would have no hesitation in recommending it for older audiences. Bruce and I both loved it from start to finish.

'Money Monster' Review 5 '16

We went to see the movie "Money Monster" this afternoon. Great acting on the part of Clooney and Roberts, and the the public's current wave of anti wall street sentiment, will probably save this film from succumbing to its weak plot and even weaker ending.

Watching this movie can be a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, as long as you are just looking to be entertained, ,and you aren't expecting the story line to be too realistic.

Moonrise Kingdom 3 '13

I highly recommend seeing "Moonrise Kingdom" to any of my FB friends who like art films.  Compared to the beat-em-up blow-em-up mentality of the average action-flick, the sweet nature innocence of its plot was highly refreshing.  The quirky characters and childlike humor had me hooked from the moment BJ ran the trailer.  Definitely a feel good movie!
