Got my new Charleston Series hung in the SAG gallery today. I am pleased with how it looks.

Spring Open House at SAG 5 '15

 It was standing room only at the Seacoast Artists Gallery's Spring Open House 

The community showed up in droves to support the event

In return the exhibiting artists brought out their finest, abstract or representational paintings, and photograghs.

SAG hosts MB Chamber of Commerce 6'14

On Thursday, the Seacoast Artists Guild hosted  a reception for the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. Nearly 150 people came to the reception  which was in our gallery at The Market Common.

Bruce and I had a great time,  There was lots of good music   food ,and friends

and ,of  course,  lots of good artwork.

CC's boats are on exhibit at SAG 3 '14

 Like everyone else we know, CC is tired of winter.  When she was offered some prime window space at the SAG gallery, she decided to display some paintings of boats this month.  Hopefully  everyone who sees them will be reminded that warmer weather will soon be  here.

Seacoast Artists Guild 2013 Fall Show 10"13

Last night we attended the opening reception for the
Seacoast Artists Guild 2013  Fall Show.  There is so many pieces of fine artwork in the show, and so many different media.  I don't envy the judges  trying  to narrow it down to a select few awards. 

 Today CC will  be attending the sales desk at:

By the way, the show runs through October 21st and includes a  chance for you to be an art show judge.  Starting today, visitors to the gallery can vote for their favorite piece. At the end of the show,  the piece receiving the most votes will win an award.

Low Country Birds on Display 9 '13

CC put 10 more of her  paintings on display in the SAG Gallery at The Market Common.. all are oil paintings of low country bird scenes.

In Appreciation 7 '13

Boy did CC  get a pleasant surprise at the July 7^th SAG General Membership Meeting. Our Guild's President, Woody Bower presented  out-going SAG Board Members, Eugenia Tribett  and CC each with a Certificate of Appreciation in expression of the Guild’s  appreciation for all of the hard work, long hours and late nights they put in to  making out Guild a success.

This morning, we bought this beautiful little Green Glazed stoneware bowl from potter Bill Maurer who was showing at the SAG tent sale outside of Applewoods.  CC loves the color and all the incising on the side.

We should visit these tent sales more often.

July 1st was art change-out day at the SAG Gallery at Applewoods. Applewood's owner, Amy Vlahos, is a great supporter of local artists, and has provided wall-space for thirteen of SAG's artists. CC replenished her wall space with lots of paintings of local landmarks.

Brookgreen Gardens Annual Art Show 6'13

We visited the Brookgreen Gardens Annual Art Show On June 1 and were happy to see so many of our friends and local artists from the Seacoast Artists Guild were exhibiting. 'Good Selling' to Sean Thompson, Maria Delaney, Millie Doud, Judy O'Brien, Suz, Mole, and Nancy VanBuren.

It's nice to belong to a Guild whose members are  so active in the local art scene.

Pretty Place BUT Keep Your Eyes Open 5"13

I  was walking along this Bull Island road just after sunrise  taking photos of the fresh water pond on the west of the road,  when I saw this  9 foot +  alligator submerging into the pond.  The driver of our transport vehicle was  wandering  along the edge of the pond farther  off of  the east side of the road. Alligators don't normally come out of the middle of a  pond to chase you, so I wasn't worried.

  On the ride back to the boat, the whole group spotted another monstrous  alligator crossing the road from east to west. It was moving too fast for any of us to get a photo, but when it's snout reached the west side of the road , it's tail was still hanging over the eastern bank.  It's a wonder both the driver and I didn't wind up being a breakfast snack.

Trip to Bull ISland, SC 5 '13

 Wednesday saw Bruce and I getting up at 2 am to join a photo shoot on Bull Island, SC sponsored by the Seacoast Artists Guild.    Fifteen members of the Guild  met at Pawleys Island to car caravan to  Garris Landing.

 

 From there we picked up a ferry which would take us both ways

to  and from  the leeward  landing on Bulls Island .

 From there we all piled in an open air truck which transported across the island

 Ostensibly photographing the sunrise was the main purpose of the trip. 

 

 Not too surprisingly most of the participants, including my husband Bruce,  were photographers; only a couple of us were painters by avocation. I'm sure many of the images caught by the camera folk will be much better quality photographs than mine

but I am happy with my results. What my pictures may lack for in photographic skills, they more than made up for as reference material for future paintings

 Part of the 62,000-acre Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge,the secluded beaches of Bulls Island, South Carolina

 

 has something for everyone including photographers, a painters  

 history buffs, 

 

 nature lovers 

or those who just want to get away for a day of exploring.  All too soon we had to return to the mainland.

  Goodby Bull Island.  We'll miss you.

Grand Opening of Seacoast Artists Guild Gallery at the Market Common 5'13

This evening the Seacoast Artists Guild officially opened its new gallery at The Market Common. President Woody Bower kicked the event of with a ribbon cutting and a word of praise to all those who worked so hard to make this event possible.

 

Joining Woody in the Welcoming remarks was The Market Common Representative, Brooke.

 Both had especially high praise for our Publicity Chair, June Groft, who spear-headed the project from Day one.

The event was well attend by the artists, their families and friends, as well as the general public.

Paintings installed at the Market Common

In preparation for the grand opening next weekend, Bruce helped me install my paintings on my wall at the Seacoast Artist Guild Gallery at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach.  Thank you sweetie, you are so much better at hanging art than I am. 

Sean Thompson Presents at SAG 2 '13

Sean Thompson, of Thompson Nature Photography, Pawleys Island, one of the areas premiere photographers, made a very informative presentation entitled "Tools for Making a Sharper Image" at the general membership meeting of the  Seacoast Artists Guild.  Topics he discussed included digital camera control settings for ISO,  Aperture (AV)  Shutter speed (TV). and equipment (tripods &  lighting). After the meeting Sean made himself available to discuss the equipment he brought for the presentation.

New Logo for SAG 2"13

Seacoast Artists Guild President, Woody Bower unveiled our Guild's new logo at the guild's general membership meeting . After explaining the lengthy process the board went through to solicit then select a contemporary looking logo to replace our legally expiring logo, Woody presented a check for $500 to the local business woman and graphic artist, Ann Hyde,  whose logo design won the logo contest.
