Thanksgiving Feast: 11' 18

Just because there are only two of us celebrating
has never stopped  us from having  a traditional Thanksgiving meal
with all the fixings:

Orange Chili roasted turkey breast and thighs,  brocolini, wild rice medley, brown sugar sweet potatoes, turkey gravy, cranberry orange  marmalade, rolls, and pumpkin pie.

CC's Birthday Dinner

We celebrated my birthday with a feast of all my favorite foods:
braised lamb chops, buttered rice, steamed artichokes, Barbera Wine.
 and a pear custard cake.

The cake (not shown) was the best birthday desert I have ever had.
you can find the recipe here:

CC's Birthday: 11 '18

Thank you everyone for all the Birthday wishes. I Can't believe I actually managed to live so well for 75 years. I can remember thinking that 75 was Sooooo OLD when my grandmother reached that age. What could one possibly do with that much time on earth? But when I look back on my own life , I see my 20s surrounded by family, friends and people I love. My thirties were filled personal; social. and intellectual growth., My forties added career achievements to my accomplishments. My fifties wove travel and adventure sports into my being, and my sixties brought a huge burst of renewed creativity in art. Each decade has added a new sense of accomplishment and joy in living. For my seventies I am concentrating on pulling the best of all of those skills together and enjoying each and every moment. Now that I find myself in the position of being family's oldest living matron, I lam especially enjoying watching how each of you are creating and nurturing the very special person you are.

There goes the Woods :11 '18

Looking east along  108-2  rear  property line on 11/17/18
Some of you may remember  a post*  I put out last September about how development had started  gnawing away at the woods behind us.  At the time we did not know why the builder was removing trees and clearing just a narrow strip  just around their property line.

After weeks of watching, we are near certain that this is 'Phase One' of  the developer putting in a drainage system.

Looking west  along 108-3 property line on 11/17/18.
Our unit in the Masters Place sits at 13 feet above sea level, but  the land behind us drops away steeply and faces a  tidal estuary, hence  a good drainage system is critical to keeping  any development  on that property from flooding.

Looking  north at 108-2 from  center road into the new development.

Much of the last month was spent on  was spent  on  installing the  main road
 into the new development.
