Prepping the garden and house for Isaias 7 ' 20

I spent the day prepping the house and yard for Isaias
I moved all our lightweight potted plants to  wind-sheltered locations
and took all our yard art indoors so hit couldn't become a missile.

Then, I harvested all of the cut-flowers, and trimmed their plants back to three feet of lower so they would have less  mass and be less likely to get flatted.

The large bowls of cut-flowers help make  the house look really cheery.
Next I tackled harvesting all my herbs which are in their peak of  summer growth.

I put all the soft herbs like basil into large bowls of water so that they would stay fresh until I had time to process them into pesto, or infuse them into oils.

The remaining culinary herbs were hung  to dry
from a pot rack above our kitchen sink.
They make the house smell just heavenly.

Here we go

Rain Train is on its way!

Someone needs to stop blessing the rain down in Africa.  LOL

New Development

The surveyors have been out in the woods behind us all week marking off the lots for the new development.

Tropical Storm Isaias Headed Right at Us 7 '20

Aaaakkkkkk! I was afraid this would happen. At least we are well prepared to stay, or evacuate as needed. We're in Zone A but If the winds stay below 70 MPH we probably won't have to evac. ( All depends upon the tide levels at the time the storm hits us.). The only thing I'm worried about if we stay is whether we will be able to get the plywood up over our windows.

"OH Good.. A New Cat Toy" .... Bear especially loves positioning himself in the center of the holes and catching my golf balls before they can make it into the cups.

"I Didn't Do it" '7/20

"I DIDN'T DO IT" ... Turns out this time Bear was telling the truth. Bruce said he'd watched Freckles pulling the zinnias out of the vase , then take off when he heard me coming. Poor Bear just happened to be an innocent onlooker left holding the bag at the scene of the crime

A Walk on PI's Refurbished Beach

It was a beautiful day for a walk on the newly refurbished
Pawleys Island Beach
And they've protected the dunes with fencing

and  widened the South end to extend the  beach

Cats have a new maze to play in: 7 2020

It's been a long time since we have shared out home with young  energetic cats and our new kitties seem a bit bored with chasing toy balls and laser lights.  I decided to make them a maze where they could practice their  hunting skills to find hidden treats.

I've been collecting cardboard boxes for the past month
I reinforced all the edges and sealed the flaps with strapping tape. then  cut holes in some of the sides so that the cats could pass from one box to another.

The boys helped me check that each box would  bear their weight

and test each  opening to make sure it was large enough for them to pass through .
Yesterday, I  started assembling the components on either side of my computer console.
I added a enclosed box bridge behind the monitor to  connect the two parts of the maze on either side of the desk.  from there they can hop to their window napping platforms  on adjacent wall, or leap  onto to their cat tower on the opposite wall.

It's not pretty ..YET  but I have plans to paint and a lot more embellishments to come.
The boys  have wasted no time checking out every corner  of the basic model
 both inside and out
 and

THEY LOVE IT.
