New street, wider driveways and new trees. 10 '07

October was a busy month for us, we had: new street, wider driveways and new trees put in place.
Original yard and drive day we moved in
Part of our condo’s purchase contract called repaving the street and to widen our driveways.  The developer finally came through on his promise in the second week of October.   It sure is nice to be able to park both cars side by side.

Last summer I (Cece) accepted the position of Landscape Chair for our Home Owners Association.  My first big project involved picking out trees for our condos and choosing a landscaper to install them.    After much research I chose Eastern Redbuds and River Birch.  Both are native to this area, and will remain small enough to fit within our limited space.  All well and good, but drought, and heat caused us to postpone planting until October.  As luck would have it, the landscapers were only available the last week of October… right when Bruce’s cousins were here.   Needless to say I did a fair amount of multi-tasking to make sure that all the new trees and shrubs were made it to their intended  location.  In the end, it all worked out well, the entire neighborhood looks A LOT better.
